London Friend is launching Online Counselling Groups for the LGBTQ+ Community. An Accredited and Experienced Counsellor will facilitate each Group. The Counsellors work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) code of ethics, or equivalent professional body.
There will be different online Groups for Men, Women and Trans/ Non-Binary people. Each Group will run for 12 sessions. Each session will last for 90 minutes. This is an opportunity to explore your relationship with yourself and other people in your life. This is also an opportunity to share your experiences with other people of the same gender.
The group counsellor does not lead the discussion, but instead helps the group to find its own way. Rather than setting the group’s direction, the counsellor helps the members to identify underlying themes and connections in what they are saying, and helps them to understand their own experience and reactions in the group more fully.
There is a short online Assessment with the counsellor, before you join a group. This is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and the counsellor will also want to find out more about why you would like Group counselling.
Financial contribution: As we incur costs, such as building overheads and the provision of professional clinical supervision for counsellors, we invite people accessing the counselling service to make a regular financial contribution in accordance with their income. This will be discussed at your assessment.
Confirmed Dates for Upcoming online Counselling Groups:
GBT+ Men's Counselling Group - on Thursday evenings (18:00-19:30) from Thursday 8th January (referrals will open in late October for this group)
