Before and During Chemsex Sessions
Communication
Always have a conversation about your sexual boundaries when sober, so you are clear about what you are willing to engage in, and what you are not. This may help reduce any physical harm that may occur during sex when you are high, when ‘anything goes’.
Always be clear about what kind of sexual encounter you are agreeing to engage in i.e. One to One or Group or any other scenarios.
Be open to talking about your ideas around condom use, your HIV status, and if you are taking PrEP. This will allow others to be open when speaking about themselves.
Drugs
Stay in control of the amount of G you are taking by measuring it out yourself. Click here for more information of G. Educate yourself about the drugs you are using, so you know what to expect either when high, or when coming down. Further drug information can be found here.
If someone offers you drugs, then be sure you are clear about what you are taking. Say NO, if you are uncomfortable or unsure about it.
Self-Care
Dehydration can be dangerous, so make sure that you drink plenty of water during sessions. It is also more than likely that engaging in long sessions means you will not eat for days, which impacts bodily processes such as brain and organ functioning, so try and eat when possible.
Consent
If you meet up with someone who offers you more and more drugs during a session, remember you have the right to say NO. Know your tolerance and stick to it.
If you feel uncomfortable at any time, then you have the right to stop any sexual activity, as well as leave someone's house when you want to. You also have the right to ask someone to leave your place when you choose. Click here for further information regarding chemsex and consent.
