Improving LGBT Competence

LGBT COMPETENCE

This workshop provides a robust introduction to working with LGBT service users. It allows participants to explore their own knowledge of issue affecting these communities and consider effective ways of engaging and working sensitively with LGBT individuals.

WHAT THE COURSE COVERS

It also covers basics of good practice, legislation and the Equality Act and Public Sector Equality Duties in relation to the Act’s ‘protected characteristics’ of sexual orientation and gender reassignment.

WHO IT IS AIMED AT

Ideal as a refresher this course is ideal for all staff and managers working with LGBT people in a wide range of services such as substance misuse, housing, mental health, sexual health and generic support as well as anyone seeking to improve their knowledge of issues affecting LGBT people.
