Helplines
Our evening helpline has ceased operation as of August 2015. Below you can find several helplines which are there to provide listening support and give advice:
LGBT Switchboard
If you would like to speak to an LGBT helpline please call our partners Switchboard – they are open 7 days a week 10am – 10pm on 0800 0119 100. They also have an instant messaging service, which you can access through their website.
Samaritans
For 24 hour support 365 days a year you can also call Samaritans for free on 116 123.
Mind
Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. You can call them on 0300 123 3393. They also have an LGBT specific support site called MindOut.
Drugs and Alcohol
If you have a query relating to drugs and alcohol you can contact our Antidote team at antidote@londonfriend.org.uk.
You can also visit the Rehab 4 Addiction website, which is an advisory and referral service for people who suffer from alcohol, drug and behavioural addiction.
Sexual Health
If you would like to talk someone about sexual health over the phone, please call the National Sexual Health Helpline from 9am to 8pm: 0300 123 7123.
Suicide Prevention
If you are having thoughts about taking your own life, and feel that you are a risk to yourself then you can contact Maytree, who offer a helpline and a safe space to stay (for up to 4 nights). You can contact Maytree on 020 7263 7070.
Grief Encounter
If you are a bereaved child or young person in need of support, you can call Grief Encounter's Grieftalk Helpline from 9am-9pm Monday to Friday on 0808 802 0111.
