{"id":4513,"date":"2018-03-27T11:38:25","date_gmt":"2018-03-27T10:38:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/londonfriend.org.uk\/?p=4513"},"modified":"2018-03-28T17:30:07","modified_gmt":"2018-03-28T16:30:07","slug":"co-exist-our-hiv-hepatitis-c-support-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/londonfriend.org.uk\/2012\/co-exist-our-hiv-hepatitis-c-support-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Co-Exist &#8211; our HIV &#038; Hepatitis C support group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3628 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/londonfriend.org.uk\/2012\/2012\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/coexist-image-for-website-340x265.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"265\" \/>London Friend is relaunching Co-Exist, our therapeutic peer support group for gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men who are living with both HIV and hepatitis C.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Co-Exist will start on Tuesday 1<sup>st<\/sup> May 2018, and will run for 6 weeks on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The group will:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide support and understanding.<\/li>\n<li>Offer a safe place and a comfortable environment.<\/li>\n<li>Create support systems and perhaps create new friendships.<\/li>\n<li>Share experiences and learn how to live well with co-infection.<\/li>\n<li>Build coping mechanisms to deal with difficult feelings.<\/li>\n<li>Break down the sense of isolation felt from living with co-infection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Co-Exist is facilitated by Joel, a qualified counsellor who has lived experience of co-infection and for the last 16 years has worked in health and social care.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This group requires prior booking.
