Terry Higgins dies of AIDS in St Thomas' Hospital London, his friends set up the Terry Higgins Trust (which became the Terrence Higgins Trust), the first UK AIDS charity.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Britain reports 17 cases of AIDS. Gay men are asked not to donate blood<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Eastenders screen the first every gay kiss in a UK soap. The actor Michael Cashman was also a volunter at London Friend. He is now a patron<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Section 28 of the Local Government Act 1988 stated that a local authority \"shall not intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality\" or \"promote the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship\u201d<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
