Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience, where you get the opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends and support other LGB or T people.

 

We are always looking for volunteers who can help us:

• Provide counselling
• Run our social and support groups
• Fundraise
• Help us with our publicity
• Support our drug and alcohol services

 

Full training is provided for all areas except counselling, where we ask that volunteers are either fully qualified or working towards qualification on an accredited training course. For further information please visit our page for counsellors.

 

Please note that all volunteer roles are subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service check (formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau or CRB checks) and that due to the nature of work as a specialist LGBT service we require all volunteers providing client support roles to identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans (or similar self-identified LGBTQI identity).

Interested in becoming a trustee?

 

Like all charities, London Friend is governed by a Board of Trustees who have diverse backgrounds and bring with them a variety of skills and qualifications.

 

Trustees are responsible for controlling the management and administration of London Friend. Working together as a team, our trustees have responsibility for our strategic direction and ensuring that we remain solvent, well-run, and delivering on our aims and objectives. We are seeking people with experience in the health areas we work within, as well as people with experience of voluntary sector management, fundraising, marketing & communications.

 

Trustees generally attend one evening meeting every two months with occasional additional evening or weekend meetings as required. If you are interested in becoming a trustee, please send a CV with a covering note saying why you would like to join our Board, and what you feel you can bring to the role, to our Chief Executive, Monty Moncrieff.

 

We are keen to increase our Board diversity and particularly welcome applications from trans-identified people and people from black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds.
