Join in the celebrations!

This year, London Friend is 40! That makes us the oldest LGBT charity in the UK.

We started humbly, providing vital supporting to gay and lesbian people at a time when social attitudes towards our community were significantly different to today.

Today, we can proudly say that we have supported hundreds of thousands of LGBT people. In the last year alone we have grown further, bringing in Antidote, the UK's only LGBT drug and alcohol service.

2012 is historic – LGBT people across the UK are celebrating the greatest levels of equality we’ve ever seen. But unfortunately many people still face daily struggles because of their sexuality or gender identity. That’s why what we do matters.

We want to use our birthday year to celebrate our past and present, and to look to the future – and we want you to get involved.

We are asking our supporters to help us raise awareness amongst friends, colleagues and family about London Friend, and to help raise the funds that will secure our work.

We’re looking for 40 amazing people to commit to raising £1,000 in 2012. Could you be one of them? Or perhaps you will be 1 of the 1,000 people who donate £40, and get ten of your friends to do the same?

If you would like us to send you a fundraising pack crammed with advice and resources, or want to discuss what you can do to help us celebrate our 40 years, email viv@londonfriend.org.uk or call 020 7833 1674

What we do

We exist to promote the social, emotional, physical and sexual health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people, and all those unsure of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

London Friend offers counselling and support services which set out to explore issues of same-sex relationships, sexual and gender identity and promote personal growth and self-confidence. We also provide social groups, and a safe space as an alternative place to meet and socialise.

Most of our services are delivered by trained LGBT volunteers. The services we provide include:

London Friend aims to offer equality of access and opportunity to all its service users, volunteers and employees. We work proactively to reflect the diversity of the London population we serve.
